Making the Switch to a Mac

First of all, congratulations on making the switch from Windows to a Mac (or maybe a Macbook). I migrated our entire household to Macs a few years ago and never looked back.

We started with a Bondi Blue iMac running OS9. This was our first taste into a virus and adware free operating system. My wife got tired of fighting for time on the computer so she switched to a Macbook. By this point it was running OSX. She loves it and loves the fact that OSX never crashes. Don’t get me wrong, individual programs occasionally might crash but the Blue Screen of Death is gone forever.

I think in the last three years it’s had to reboot due to problems maybe a dozen times. Contrast that with a PC you might have to reboot 12 times in a month it’s a stunning change.

The next migration was saying goodbye to our Bondi Blue iMac and getting a new all in one iMac for our kids. The display is stunning, the system is well constructed and everything just works. I love the fact that I no longer have to manage tech support in my house.

Our final switch was me. Despite being the champion, I put my families PC needs in front of mine. I just recently received a Macbook Pro which I use for work. It truly is a thing of beauty.

Enjoy the switch, enjoy your Mac. There are many articles on this site designed to get you started. Please feel free to post any questions you might have.
